The module imparts knowledge on the evolution of the Internet of Things (IoT) and the skills required for the configuration of its associated devices. It comprehends IoT architecture with its building blocks, technologies, and protocols. Using scenarios, allows students to identify the security threats in IoT and recommend basic countermeasures. It enables students to acquire knowledge about IoT applications on different platforms and their skills to code and use relevant tools in developing simple IoT applications using wired/wireless protocols.

This module aims to develop student's knowledge in understanding different types of security issues and common tools used to mitigate security risks. It provides knowledge in understanding the common attacks, associated threats, and vulnerabilities of network resources. It equips the students with skills in dealing with threats from authorized and unauthorized users and protects the network and its resources. The module also introduces cyber security, the importance of cyberattacks, and prevention methods.
