This module is the second module in our two-module serial on the database. This module provides solid foundation on design and management aspects of database systems.
In this course,
students will be: 1) Taught on database
design within the systems framework 2) Exposed to the
characteristics of database transactions and how they affect database integrity
and consistency 3) Introduced to the
need for query efficiency in a real world that routinely generates and uses
terabyte-sized databases and tables with millions of records 4) Taught on data
distribution, replication and allocation 5) Exposed to the
characteristics of the databases that are used in decision support and online
analytical processing. 6) Introduced to the
basis for a successful database administration strategy and database security
issues
